Meet the Teacher

I am so excited to be starting my 17th year teaching kindergarten at St. Agnes Cathedral School, and my 20th year teaching!  I held a double major in Elementary Education and Psychology at Rider University, where I received my B.S., and continued at Hofstra University, where I received my M.A. in Literacy Studies.
I grew up in a family of teachers – my mom taught Religion and Reading, my father taught high school English (for more years than he would ever reveal!), and my sister was an elementary school teacher.  I’ve always followed in my big sister’s footsteps, so I knew I wanted to be a teacher, just like her.
I am passionate about reading, and enjoy nothing more than seeing my young students develop that same love.  There is something so special about kindergarten, where children are truly excited to learn.  They become aware and inquisitive about the world around them, and are motivated to find out all they can.  Though I am certified N-6, kindergarten is definitely where my heart is.  There is no other grade I’d rather teach.

As I mentioned above, I LOVE to read – the library is definitely my happy place, and you are as likely to find me browsing the racks in the Children’s Room as in the Adult!  However, reading takes a backseat to my new passion in life – spending time with my son!  My husband and I have traded in our summer vacations in Europe for summer vacations in Sesame Place, and candlelit dinners for Panera, and we couldn’t be happier.
I can’t wait to get to know my newest kinders, and am excited to create wonderful memories!
