My name is Mrs. Magarie. I am so blessed to be apart of our school community! This will be my second year teaching 3rd Grade here at St. Agnes School. I graduated from Adelphi University, where I earned a degree in Childhood Education. I also earned my Masters degree Special Education at Molloy College. I am looking forward to a wonderful year! ELA: We started our Peter Pan chapter book study. The children are enjoying the book and look forward each day to read another chapter. In this book study, we will focus on the following: Character traits, inferencing, ask/answer questions, and the RACE writing strategy.
Writing: The children have completed wonderful writing pieces for March & April. We will be writing an opinion writing paragraph based on the chapter book, Peter Pan.
Math: We are now into fractions and will be staying on this skill for a few weeks.
Science: We are learning about life cycles and traits. As we move along this chapter we will cover how all life cycles follow the same pattern, explain how living things inherit many characteristics, and understand how the environment can influence the characteristics of living things. Our butterfly larva has arrived. Every few days the students are observing the caterpillars and writing their observations into their Butterfly Journal. They are anxiously waiting for them to go into the 3rd stage - pupa or chrysalis stage.
Religion: We are currently learning about the Seven Sacraments. In addition, the children are also working on a 'flipbook' describing each of the seven sacraments.
Social Studies: We are currently learning about China in regards to its geography, government, & culture.
