Welcome to 6th Grade Science and Religion with Mr. Russo!
I am very excited to be in my 1st year at St. Agnes Cathedral School. The school year is filled with exciting Science labs and experiments.
In 6th grade Science, we will be learning Physical Science. Some topics that we will be covering are Matter & its Interactions, Energy, Force, and Motion, and Atomic Theory, and many more!
Born in December and brought home from the hospital on Christmas Day, my parents named me Matthew, meaning "gift of God." My faith has always been a central part of my life, shaped by my strong Catholic upbringing, especially through the example of my mother, who embodied the love of Christ in our family. I received my sacraments at Maria Regina in Seaford and have carried those values into my personal and professional life.
I began my career by serving in the U.S. Army, completing five tours in Iraq. After my service, I pursued a career in education, earning a Bachelor's degree in Education from Old Westbury College and a Master's degree from Queens College. With experience teaching Global and U.S. History, as well as Biology, I have worked in various school districts including Roosevelt, Freeport, Kalanu Academy, and Middle Country. I also coached JV Lacrosse during my time in education.
Outside of my professional life, I enjoy boxing, reading, working out, and spending time with my four children.
Teaching in a Catholic school allows me to combine my passion for education with my commitment to evangelizing the Christian faith. I look forward to my time at St. Agnes Cathedral School community, and sharing in the faith and values of its students and families.
